Winter sucks.... well duh? And I have had a semi-cold for weeks. coughing up all kinds of shit in the morning... Maybe that's a result of the coming together of 75 York street and guests on saturday night, and making a bong. haha
Slam Dunkkk, so good, the most original gig of the year. i wanna hear some classical music sampled behind those rockin techno beats!!!

2:47 pm - Flash is fast
The grandfather himself, graced the wheels of steel at the prince on tuesday night, and it was fuckin' amazing, hot, choc-o-bloc, dancy, fun, loud, stoned, hip hop meets "rock me amadaus", and how needs an mc? not GrandmasterFlash. If anyone is going tonight, hold on to your sideways positioned trucker hat, cos' he is the best there is, was, will ever be.

I wish i could have gone to Will's (Shhhh... don't say 30th) party... I know I would have ended up not remembering a damn thing, just like I did in Geelong for Trizboz's 21st. lines of speed at the back of the carrington hotel, on a not-so-flat glass table, forever speeding for the rest of the night, lucky, cos' i couldn't handle speaking to friends parents stoned anymore.

Charlie's "I don't do drugs dad" top 10

1.Lines of lumpy speed
2.Drinking 5 cups of keg beer in 15mins, when first arriving
3... then another 15
4.Smoking more joints than cigarettes
5.Reggie buying a slab the next day
6.Smoking a blunt in the car trip home from Geelong
7.Watching thr loggies stoned
8.Mum giving me a mother's day smoking lecture
9.BrAin,, noott worknig...
10. ... ... ... fuck!!!

8:08 pm - hash truffles on good friday
meeting, neb, pryl and taka at the lounge on a boring (but beautiful) good friday. tanith and i soon learnt that they had eaten hash truffles some guy, i can't remember who, had given them.
we went on about our lazy business of playing pool and drinking beer. losing to two out-of-towners and some japanese girls.
tonight pony's wheres it's at. damon is going OS for a long time, so tonight it's goodbye for some of us.
thanks to tanny d, i have in my possesion a vintage christian dior polo shirt that i love.
did anyone see p. didy mc the mtv euro awards, he was wack man! maybe it was the crowd, but nevertheless his performance was lackluster. my man pharell's anti-war speech, was the highlight and the only celeb to do it. alex at sahara made the statement that the dude at the mtv awards had my hat on, but it was actually pharell williams... well you had to be there.

Charlie's "poorer than a pensioner" Top 5

Good

1. Pharell's anti-war statement.
2. Hanging with my best friends.
3. Holidays.
4. Vintage Christian Dior polo.
5. Easter eggs/Hot cross buns.

Bad

1. No money.
2. In laws (the TV show).
3. Kerrie-ann Kenneley.
4. Counterculture hippies.
5. Winter.

5:04 pm - P.A.R.T....Y? cos' we wanna get fucked up!
Yo! wassup?

Life has been dominated by organising how many shifts I can do at work without centrelink taking money away from rent assistance, and when I say dominated, I fucking mean that, but it'll all be good in a couple of weeks, one shift a week, four days at uni and enough money for rent and living(DRUGS AND BOOZE).

Enough about me anyhow, who wants to party? cos' theres a party at the HundredsandThousands house this saturday, with rockin' Dee Jays: DJ Smokey, Benji the Hunted, DJ Louie and many moore.

Its @ 75 York Street St. Kilda West. Its a short walk from the Frasier St stop on the number 96 tram route from East Brunswick to St. Kilda Beach.

So if you wanna drink and smoke yourself into a coma and hear pretty much anything from The Avalanches to ZZ Top, come fashionably late and wearing ya old to nu skool gear.

Check it...!

2:51 am - film review - POOTIE TANG (M - 78mins)
Women can't resist him. Evil can't withstand him. He's the too-hip hero with a style...and a language...all his own!
Based on the hilarious unintelligable character who first appeared on "the Chris Rock show", Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther) is a hit record singing, criminal empire busting, rabbit-fur shirt wearing superhero idolised by kids and love starved women everywhere. But when Pootie's one-man war against greed, injustice and unwholsome consumer products starts cutting into profits at Lectorcorp, the company's CEO plunges the super-dude into a super funk...by swiping his magical villain whupping belt! Can our hero pull himself up by the Poot straps? Will he buckle under the pressure? Will his new single go platinum? Find out - in this off the wall comedy sensation feat. Chris Rock in mutiple roles!

(it's not really a review but kinda just what it says on the back of the cover. sounds good though, eh).

if you have any queries about any film-related matters, the power is at my finger tips so feel free to shoot (MON & TUES mornings from 12am - 9am)

at work. video shop. 2.30am. internet not locked for some reason. architecture in helsinki playing (how very LJ). mcclusky lyrics i just heard; "your friends are cunts and your mum's a ballpoint pen thief". wondering why anyone reads this shit. some poor cunt at work at fucking 2.30am inflicting his boredom onto some poor motherfucker who is reading this. to you, i'm sorry. shit bitch. at least most people talk about stuff of substance, or at least relevance. stuff that at least, the other LJers are involved in or affiliated w/ or.. whatever. me, i'm talking about sitting in a deserted video store on a tuesday morning w/ a mysterious cab driver parked right out fron the doorway (haunting memories of Mr Tickles flash back).

i think that if you read enough LJ entries circling around a specific clique/posse - for a long enough period of time - you could compile a very detailed template for a Bret Easton Ellis-esque, kinda Rules of Attraction type piece and then feed it back to everyone online and in turn alienate yrself but it, you know kinda wouldn't matter coz it's just the internet right? hey and then maybe you could include all the negative feedback, abusive emails, bitchy journal entries etc. or, hey you could even collect al....oh, fuck jesus - what am i doing? i'm gonna stop now - is it wrong to say 'fuck jesus'?
oh, boy - do people get addicted to this? rambling on about shit and subjecting innocent computer users to it? fuck, someone should take our password of us.
sorry Charlie. maybe i should watch a film and then review it or something, eh.

10:00 am - 8 MILE -Film Review
That's right Charlie. it seriously IS a Four Star Flick, this one, innit. it's entertaining ('course it is, it's a big fuckin MultiPlex piece that - all the Fubu wearing 15yearoldz at Crown have been scratching 'emselves in the shorts, waiting in anticipation for like the last 6mths for - there's Oscar talk and everything) YET it's very minimalist, understated even. MM3's acting is spot-on (really, 'tis) and not a whole lot happens plot wise, and he sings a white-trash version of Sweet Home Alabama, and he still raps about "possay!" even though he's the protaganist we're all supposed to support - he's even a bit of a cunt sometimes (antihero's maybe too much of a big word but it comes to mind, eh) But, we all still love Em coz he's the guy that says he wants to fuck JLo without "a dinger, and cum in 'er" and he calls Moby a bald headed faggot and all that kinda stuff, so here in 8Mile, we like appreciate his white-trash ass, and he pulls it all off, and thus the script works, and so do most other things, and the more i think about it, the more i like....yes.
(boy, i'm a bad reviewer!)

10:11 am - sippin' Grey Goose at Mink on Monday w/ cute boyz...
...then we all teased our two oh-too-straight friends about not having 'Zales/C.O.S tix (though they're coming to J. DeLaCruz tonight, - otherwise there'd be trouble) - after that we went home and watched soem Godard+Antonioni films before reminding ourselves what horrors cum w/ bucketbongs (2 a piece) so then opting for nitrus oxide followed by Finlandia 'Mary's accompanied only by N.W.A's 100 Miles and Running EP. following morning went for breakfast at Circa (only, mind you readers, coz we stayed at F.C's digs - wrong side o'town) Mittens attmitted that he hadn't read ANY of Harmony Korrine's stuff(!) - then we caught 96 back home but detoured to Savers before detouring to Coles so that i could buy some hair dye so that i don't look the same at C.O.S (manana) as i did at James' set (tonight). just starting up again now w/ CanadianClub and Cokes (! - i know, iknow) and i think soon we're going to Jessemie's house in Northcote(!) coz she wants to show us her new wallpaper and her Telemarketing training video which features Bruce Samazan that she got from her new job which she quit after the first hour(!) last Wed - i think - but it'll be worth the trip on account of her having 3/4 of a slab of Cooper's Green in her fridge (leftovers from Thurs pre-Cherry drinks - uh, should have stayed in Northcote - but then we wouldn't have any Cooper's Green for tonight, eh - kinda funny how things work out some times). Current episode of Degrassi that i'm watching as i type, has Wheels nearly molested by a creepy pederast in the Canadian country side. Oh, how i love Degrassi (jnr. and High - but not that new series they've started playing....

11:17 pm - The Man with the Golden Arm
Before I rave on about how fucking incredible this film is, I would like anyone who has seen thid film to tell me if they liked it or not, and if not why not.
I nicked the DVD from work (it came free with the Feb issue of WHAT DVD), but i had seen it bofore that, but it didn't have the same impact as it did on me the other night.

The low-down is that it is a film made in 1955 (but is still relevent to this day) by Otto Preminger and it stars a young, very skinny Frank Sinatra, who is a card dealing junkie, who's dream is to be a drummer in a big band (do you love it?).
There is an amazing scene where Frank is locked in a room going cold turkey a la Trainspoting's scene with the baby on the celling. I couldn't believe how this film hasn't dated one bit, apart from the look and the speech, but the actions of the supposedly reformed Frankie are as true to this day as any other film about addiction. I dare anyone reading this (probably not many) to watch Requeim for a Dream, and then watch The Man with the Golden Arm.... Too many stars to count. CA

1:13 am - FILM REVIEW: Bowling for Colombine M 120mins.
this documentary i saw on boxing day at the george and i enjoyed. its a dark, and often scary, true to life tale of how scared and paranoid americans are. guns, the murder of children by other children using guns and the poverty circle is the (possible over emphasised) topic of the doco.
Michael Moore practically hunts down charlton heston for the entire duration of the film and when he finally catches up with the former god of the silver screen and now NRA president it proves to be the best scene in the film. moore has done a bang up job with his little child he has wathced grow for the last four years into a mature, well edited, very black comedy. 12:53 am - FILM REVIEW: Blue Crush PG: 94 mins
a little blonde surfy-chick in Maui, or somewhere else in Hawaii, likes to surf and she becomes safely involved w/ a tourist NFL player who's probably well hung, and gets kinda good and in the finale surfs 'peip' (Pipeline) and kinda wins but it kinda like doesn't matter that much at the end of the day, and it alls good 'cept the NFL dude will just go off and fuck some other chicks in some other city, and ...they have to say "frigg" insted of "fuck" all the time coz it's PG.

12:00 am - Lord of the CGI: TheTwo Towers.
.... yes, i happen to find myself in the classic cinema in elsternwick yesterday watching the most overly acted, unscripted epic of "our time"... what's that i hear you say? how many little gold statues named oscar will it win... answer, a lot. the over-the-top epic battle scenes have one's face in a cringe after the second battle. peter jacksons sweeping heli-shots of the surrounding scenery, reminded me of cliffhanger, which i would gladly watch on a friday night on channel ten with a few strong coffees. basically all life signs of the film i.e script, acting, mise-on-scene shots were cut short by the war scenes, occasional lovey-dovey apperences from liv (my father was a junkie) tyler(why does she appear a kiss our proxy protaganist every time he is on the verge of dying?) and the acting between Frodo and Sam, which deserves a rasberry, simply because they take an incredible long time in between words, which equals very boring conversations. Gollum is perhaps the only flick of light at the end of the LOTR tunnel. even then he doesn't look real... don't forget kids, yoda was once a puppet with frank oz's hand up his arse. CA

*1/2.
